Midfielder Louis Reed has signed a 3-year contract at Sheffield United.
Reed became the Blades youngest ever league player last season when he came off the bench to make his debut against Rotherham in April.
The 17-year old spoke to the club’s official website, “I am obviously delighted to have been given this fantastic opportunity by the club and the gaffer and I am determined to make the most of it.”
“What I must do now is continue to keep my head down and work hard because I still have a long way to go – there is a lot of good competition for places within the squad.”
Manager Nigel Clough added, “It is incredible that he has only just turned 17, he has had a terrific pre-season and is progressing really well. We will look after Louis but he will be in and around the first-team, he looks a very good prospect.”
“Of course, he is another to learn his trade in our Academy and tremendous credit must go to everyone associated with helping him get this far.”
Reed made his first senior start for United in the club’s opening day defeat to Bristol City.
