‘Lot of positives’, ‘100 million pound midfielder the difference’ – Barnsley fans react to Spurs loss



Wembley is becoming something of a second home for Barnsley, with manager Paul Heckingbottom leading the Tykes to the home of football on no less than three occasions in recent times.

A Checkatrade Trophy win, a play-off final win, and finally a trip to face tenants Tottenham Hotspur last night in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Their final visit did not end in victory as the previous two had, but the south Yorkshire side will leave the capital with their heads held high, having matched Premier League opposition for 90 minutes in a tight 1-0 defeat.

Barnsley had chances to get themselves back into the game, but a valiant effort fell just short, and the top flight hosts will be in the pot when the draw for the next round takes place on Wednesday evening.

Fans of the Championship side took to Twitter to congratulate the players on their noble effort, delighted that their side were good enough to compete with some of the best players in the world…
