A number of Birmingham City supporters have bemoaned the performance of defender Kristian Pedersen following the Blues’ 3-0 defeat away at Watford on Saturday.

The Blues headed into the game looking to build on the three points they secured against Reading in Lee Bowyer’s first game in charge. However, that was always going to be difficult against a Watford side who are battling for promotion from the Championship. The Hornets swept aside Birmingham with some quality bits of play and also punished errors made at the back.

One player who endured a difficult game for the Blues was Pedersen, with the left-back guilty of making too many mistakes and be too casual in possession at times. It was a display that will leave Bowyer potentially questioning whether he should provide a chance to the likes of George Friend or Steve Seddon when the campaign resumes after the international break.

Pedersen managed to make just one tackle and two interceptions and he was also guilty of giving away possession on seven occasions with a couple of those proving costly for the Blues (Sofascore). The left-back needs to recover from this display and now fight for his place under Bowyer when the season gets back up and running.

Many Birmingham fans were suggesting that Bowyer should consider dropping the defender now, with some believing that his mistakes had cost the Blues a chance to get more out of the game.
