Leeds United could be in the money this summer if they allow prolific goalscorer Chris Wood to depart the club for the Premier League, and new boss Thomas Christiansen will be backed in the transfer market to find a suitable replacement.

Interest has cooled in recent weeks for the Kiwi striker, but with months left of the transfer window, Premier League sides are sure to renew their desire to bring the 27-goal man to the top flight.

Christiansen must establish a contingency plan just in case Wood does move on, and with money to spend, should seriously consider Cardiff’s Kenneth Zohore.

The 23-year-old Dane only moved to south Wales on a permanent deal last summer from Belgian side Kortrijk, but an excellent run of form which saw the striker score 12 goals in only 24 starts will have surely alerted clubs to his ability.

Zohore is a Danish U21 striker who is on the verge of a call up to the senior side, and may feel that moving away from Cardiff could further cement his chances of becoming a consistent senior international.

Leeds will compete for promotion next season whereas, although Cardiff will improve, they are not quite ready for a top six push just yet.

Zohore is just a contingency plan for now, but if Leeds lose Wood, then the Cardiff striker has to be their number one target.
