Mads Andersen is a player that arrived at Oakwell from AC Horsens in 2019 as a largely unknown quantity to many Barnsley fans.

The Danish central defender has since gone on to become a regular for the Yorkshire side and is now considered a big miss when he is not involved for the Tykes.

His style of play was perfectly suited to that of the club's former manager Valerien Ismael last season and he now appears to be returning to the same level of form that he showed during the previous campaign after returning from a medial collateral ligament injury.

Here, we take a look at what the Barnsley faithful's initial reaction on Twitter was to his signing back in 2019.

The initial reaction to the signing of Andersen was very positive and the defender has certainly gone a long way towards repaying the faith that has been shown in him by the club and the fans.

He was a key part of the side under both Daniel Stendel and Ismael during his first two campaigns with the Tykes, with his performances last term helping them to the play-off semi finals.

Andersen has been a big miss for the club during the early stages of the current campaign and they will now be hoping that he can show the same type of form that he has shown over the past few years as they look to launch a revival under a new manager.

The towering Dane has certainly proved to be a great addition for the Tykes overall.
