According to reports from Football Insider, Birmingham City are keen on signing Stoke City forward Benik Afobe before this afternoon's transfer deadline.

The 26-year-old has endured a turbulent time at Stoke since his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer, with the striker finding the net nine times in a total of 48 appearances.

Stoke boss Nathan Jones has recently bolstered his attacking options with the loan signing of Scott Hogan from Aston Villa, which could potentially push Afobe down the pecking order at the bet365 Stadium.

Now, Football Insider claim that Birmingham are interested in making a late Deadline Day move for Afobe, as they look to find a replacement for Che Adams.

Pep Clotet's side lost Adams to Southampton earlier on in the summer, and had been linked with a move to sign Inter Milan striker George Puscas, but he has since signed for Reading.
