Barnsley have announced the signing of defender Michael Sollbauer from manager Gerhard Struber's former club Wolfsberger on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

Sollbauer, who joined Wolfsberger back in 2010, made a total of 309 appearances in all competitions for the club, helping them win promotion to the Austrian top-flight in 2012, a position they have retained ever since.

The 29-year-old has now put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal with Barnsley, which is set to keep him at Oakwell until the end of 2021/22 season.

Following confirmation of Sollbauer's arrival, Barnsley have now signed two players from Wolfsberger this month, with midfielder Marcel Ritzmaier also moving to Yorkshire on a permanent basis.

The club's third signing this month has also moved from Austria, with full-back Kilian Ludewig joining on loan until the end of the season from Red Bull Salzburg.

Taking to Twitter to react to news of Sollbauer's arrival, plenty of Barnsley fans appeared encouraged by news of their side's latest signing.
