QPR manager Mark Warburton continues to tweak his squad, with the Hoops allowing defender Toni Leistner to join FC Cologne on loan until the end of the season, as confirmed on the club's website.

Despite the 29-year-old German making 25 appearances for the R's this season, his manager told the club website: "At this stage of the season Toni wants assurances about first-team football and that is something we cannot guarantee any player," adding: "This move gives Toni his opportunity to play every week and we wish him well."

So are QPR right to let Leistner leave ,or should they have tried to keep him around?

We discuss..........

Ethan Van Ristell

"This will have come as a bit of a surprise to QPR fans, with the R's letting go of a key defender despite conceding a total of 53 goals so far this season.

"If we look back to the summer, however, the club were keen to offload Leistner, and it seems like their stance on the situation did not change. That is despite the German being a mainstay of the defence this term.

"It should also be noted that Leistner was reportedly one of QPR's highest earners on £20,000 per week which no doubt had an influence on the club allowing him to leave.

"With all those factors considered, it makes sense that the club have made this call. It is the timing of it, though, leaves QPR in a precarious position if a replacement is not found considering Yoann Barbet's injury issues."

“This looks a really suspect move for me.

“QPR have not got a huge amount of strength in depth at centre-back, so to offload an experienced player like Leistner makes little sense to me.

“It looks a particularly concerning move given that Yoann Barnet has had injury issues this season and Conor Masterson is very inexperienced.

“This must’ve been a move driven by the players desire to leave but still I think it’s a mistake that leaves them short with little time to replace him.”

Chris Thorpe

"A very questionable decision by Mark Warburton to say the least as the German centre back has been in semi-decent form for the R's this term.

"It is clear that the 29-year-old was in favour of making a move back to his home country as he seeks to get back to his best, but you can't help but feel that QPR have made a mistake really.

"They should have kept him around until the summer window at least as his experience and organisational skills would have surely come in handy as they look to get back in the play-off race.

"Only time will tell if the defender will make a return to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, but at this stage it seems doubtful."
