The Imps are still in the hunt for a top seven finish, their 0-0 draw with Wycombe last night lifting them to sixth in the table, leapfrogging Coventry and Mansfield Town.

Whatever the outcome of the final few games, Danny Cowley has worked wonders with the club, taking over less than two years ago and winning back their Football league status.

This season they've competed well but have, at times, looked short in certain areas. This summer Danny will be moving to fill those gaps in his squad, although he's ever-cautious about bringing in new faces.

On deadline day he spoke openly about missing out on a striker because the right player wasn't available and this summer will be no different. The cautious approach means progression is steady within the squad, but every new faces adds to the group.

Here at FLW we identified four English players Danny Cowley could benefit from signing at Lincoln.

22-year old Boateng has been superb for Exeter this season, turning in an eye-catching display for them at sincil Bank a few weeks ago.

He's young and hungry which would complement the current Imps midfielders perfectly, but he also looked a real threat driving forward, something the Imps squad has lacked from the middle of the park this season.

He's also out of contract in the summer, meaning he'd cost nothing.

Hussey plays at left back, a position which the Imps are short at present. Sam Habergham is the only recognised left back in the squad and one of only three full backs on their books.

Hussey is a Sheffield United player but currently on loan at Swindon. He would link up with another former Blade, James Wilson, plus he'd bring some experience to the group.

He's on the transfer list at Bramall Lane and would likely come at an affordable price.

Hawkins was an alleged target of Danny's this summer prior to his Portsmouth move, but he's been peripheral at Fratton Park as Brett Pitman and Jamal Lowe steal the limelight.

With just three strikers on Lincoln's books, much of the summer recruitment will focus on strengthening there and Hawkins would still be a great addition, if the price was right.

Frank Nouble has proper pedigree having been a West Ham player in his early career, but he's now plying his trade at Yeovil.

He's a big lad and has been the focus of Yeovil's more direct approach this season, something that would benefit Lincoln too. He's out of contract at Huish Park, a further incentive to add him to the squad.

He's not one to score twenty a season, but he would offer some respite to big Matt Rhead, the Imps sole target man.
