Ipswich Town are ten points from safety and cut adrift at the bottom of the Championship.

That was the position that Paul Lambert found the club in when he took over, and they remain there some 16 games later.

Fortunes at Portman Road have not improved as many would have thought since his arrival, picking up the same amount of points former boss Paul Hurst did during his short tenure in charge.

Lambert has had the January transfer window to improve, but with a spade of injuries, they still find their work cut out if they are to pull off a miraculous recovery and retain their Championship status.

Similar in form and results as his predecessor, Lambert is being given the backing from all at present to continue in his job, but was appointing the Scotsman a good idea in the first place?

Alfie Burns

“Right now, with Ipswich looking doomed, it’s hard to say that, but long-term I still think this will work out.

“In Lambert, you’ve a manager that’s fully committed to the club, whatever division they are in.

“That’s got to be a positive and Ipswich must rebuild with the Scot at the helm.”

Gary Hutchinson

“It hasn’t proven to be, no.

“He’s not improved on Paul Hurst’s offering, but he’s got protection.

“He can blame the squad, blame the previous incumbent and come out of it smelling of roses.

“I suppose the real test is if he gets out of League One next season.”

Jacob Potter

“What a stupid move this was by Ipswich.

“Lambert was fighting a losing battle from day one here, and he’s not showing many positive signs in helping their survival bid.

“He’s surely going to jump ship when Ipswich are relegated.”
