The Championship continues this weekend after a busy period since the last international break with five games in 14 days for the three London clubs.

And the relentless division carries on at full throttle with another three games in seven days ahead of the next interval for the next batch of national fixtures.

Brentford fell to Derby County last weekend before a valiant effort at the Emirates in their League Cup exit to Arsenal.

Queens Park Rangers saw off a poor Millwall side before back-to-back defeats in league and cup curtained their impressive form - losing to Norwich last weekend before being dumped out the cup to League One Blackpool this past Tuesday night.

Millwall, meanwhile, have been on somewhat of a poor run winning one of their last six and losing their last three in all competitions.

Each of the three capital clubs will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend in their respective fixtures.

And with that said, in this edition of our FLW round-up, we take a stroll on the streets of the capital for all of this week’s news from the London clubs.

Brentford faced one of their most significant tests in the league this season when the faced Derby County last weekend.

Despite taking the lead in the first minute, three goals in less than 15 minutes put the game beyond the Bees.

The club’s chief executive issued his thoughts after the defeat.

After the league loss, all attention turned to the League Cup third round tie against Premier League opposition in Arsenal.

The Bees took 8,500 fans to the Emirates in what was a short trip across the capital.

Despite the defeat, Brentford put on an impressive second-half display after going two goals down early on.

The final score was 3-1 to the home side but the night will be remembered for their only goal of the game - a stunning free-kick from Alan Judge.

It was the midfielder’s first goal for 942 days having been out with a broken leg.

And finally, away from the pitch, Yoann Barbet took time away to give back to the community when he visited a local school to pass on some tips to these youngsters.

Queens Park Rangers suffered back to back defeats this past week, one in each the league and the cup.

The Hoops were live on Sky Sports this past weekend and former fans’ favourite at Loftus Road, Clint Hill, took time out to watch his former side last midweek in the win over Millwall.

Steve McClaren’s men would go down by the odd goal to Norwich four days later.

And another defeat was on the horizon when on Tuesday they were dumped out the cup by lower-league opposition.

QPR not only lost but lost a man too with Jordan Cousins being send off and now set to miss this weekend’s trip to the Liberty Stadium to take on Swansea City.

After a bad night at the beach for Steve McClaren, he had his say on the Blackpool loss.

And finally, some news from the top of QPR, the FA are after a new technical director with Dan Ashworth left leaving the role to move to Brighton and Hove Albion in the New Year.

And the FA are keen on a certain member of the Hoops to fill the role, according to Henry Winter.

He notes that some people within the organisation are keen on Les Ferdinand to take up the position with the national football governing body.

Millwall head into this weekend’s clash against Sheffield United looking for a second win in seven matches, and to arrest the slump of three successive defeats in all competitions.

Good news emerged that on-loan Ryan Leonard will be able to face his parent club this weekend, ahead of a permanent move in January,

In recent years players who are loaned to divisional rivals are unable to play against their full-time clubs, but on this occasion, the Lions have been able to negotiate in their favour.

Elsewhere, the Lions lacking goals, there has been a debate as to who should be paired up top for Neil Harris’ men this weekend.

One local journalist offered a vote on Twitter with many of the Lions’ support in favour of a Tom Elliott and Tom Bradshaw double-act up top to take on the Blades.

The last time Millwall played Sheffield United, Harris altered the formation to 3-5-2 to see off Chris Wilder’s men, and did so in the defeat to Fulham.

Many of the Lions fans want the boss to switch up his style of play and formation ahead of this weekend’s clash, and Harris had his say on this after the defeat to Fulham on Tuesday.

Harris believes regardless of formation; the team need to do the basics right and have a high work-rate before systems dictate the result.

And finally, something you would not expect to see at a football match.

This linesman must have forgotten his boots as he was forced to wear shoes to run the line in the Lions’ League Cup clash with Premier League Fulham on Tuesday.

Many people have seen a lot of things in football, but I doubt they have seen that.
