Sunderland scored four goals without reply against Crewe Alexandra yesterday night, to regain a spot in the division's top two.

The Black Cats, who sit just a point off Plymouth Argyle at the League One summit, have two games in hand on The Pilgrims and will be hoping to make use of that as the season progresses.

Terrell Thomas' own goal fired the away Sid into the lead in the 25th minute, before Ross Stewart netted his eighth of the season with a well-directed header into the bottom-right corner.

The forward then doubled his tally on the evening when he was left unmarked at the back post from a corner.

Leon Dajaku then completed the scoring by finishing off a well-worked counter-attack, with his strike beating Will Jaaskelainen at his near post.

It was Stewart's performance and goals that once again caught the eye, with the 25-year-old proving to be a consistent source of goals.

Sunderland fans would have been slightly worried going into the season without Charlie Wyke, but Stewart has stepped up to the plate excellently.

Here, we take a look at how some Sunderland fans have reacted on Twitter to Stewart's goals and performance against Crewe last night...
