Local journalist discusses the change in dynamic at Aston Villa after appointments

Aston Villa have a new manager after a week of searching and he has come in the form of Dean Smith from London club Brentford.

The Bees enjoyed a good spell under Smith with his attacking philosophy going down a storm and that is what Villa fans will want to see.

They had had enough of the turgid football that was developing under Steve Bruce and now the boyhood fan gets his chance to return his club to the top table.

There could be quite the interesting dynamic at the club, though, as Midlands-based journalist Matt Maher explains:

There are certainly some interesting figures at the club now.

Jorge Mendes has more connections than most whilst John Terry is a world-class name that will be looking to have an impact.

If things all come together, they could be looking very good.

The Verdict

This is a good point.

The dynamic between the three and others at the club will be crucial to Villa’s success.

Get it right and they’ll be challenging for promotion but get it wrong and some tough seasons could await.

One thing is for sure, though, Smith will be determined to deliver.
