Bolton Council have given Bolton Wanderers until 1pm tomorrow to prove that they will be able to provide adequate resources for this weekend’s match with Millwall, report the Bolton News.

If not, then it is likely that the match will be postponed with the main concerns being over the club’s ability to provide enough medical personnel and stewards to make the game safe.

“The council has taken the decision to give the club 24 hours to address all safety concerns, otherwise we will reluctantly issue a prohibition notice,” a council spokesperson said.

“We understand some fans may be alarmed by this news, but the council is bound by legal process and we are not prepared to risk public safety by allowing any event to go ahead without proper resources in place”

The club’s off-fied issues have been coming to a head in recent weeks with the contracted caterers also threatening to pull out of their weekend duties.

It is just the latest issue in what has been a thoroughly disappointing season for the Phil Parkinson’s side.

They currently sit second from bottom with 35 matches played and seven points from safety with just 11 matches of the season left to play.

Only Ipswich sit worse off than them with the Tractor Boys five points worse off than the Trotters.

The verdict

What an absolute shambles this is turning into.

I know Parkinson has his critics among the fans but no manager would be able to keep this team up this season with everything that is going on.

League One football is beckoning and the fans should be praying that new owners are found by the time they get there.
