Aston Villa are interested in bringing Manchester United youngster Axel Tuanzebe back to Villa Park, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The versatile 20-year old spent time on loan with Villa last season, although he made just five appearances in the Championship, four of those starts.

His short stay was blighted by injury, but Steve Bruce has clearly seen enough to convince him that the Congo-born youngster can be an asset next season.

He's highly-rated at Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho remarking how just ten minutes of action revealed his burgeoning potential against Wigan in 2016. Prior to his Villa switch he enjoyed a brief cameo in United's Champions League game against CSKA Moscow last season.

Tuanzebe has represented England from U19 to U21 level, but missed out on the U20 World Cup win due to club commitments.

Although Bruce rates Tuanzebe, another loan will only be possibly if it is financially viable, given the precarious financial situation developing at Villa Park. In Bruce's own words, Villa will have to 'beg, steal and borrow' this summer.

The Verdict

Axel Tuanzebe is a special talent with an exciting future and his development will certainly be aided with  loan spell in the Championship.

There's some concern over his injury record, but at 20-years old he is young enough to bounce back from last season's issues. The question is whether an environment such as Villa Park is good for him right now, given the pressure there.
