Taking part in a Q&A with fans for Bleacher Report, Dean Jones has revealed that Kalvin Phillips could well be an option for Liverpool to sign in the summer window - whenever it comes around.

Leeds and Liverpool fans are likely to be amongst the keenest to see the season restart so they can continue their fine campaigns and finish what they have started, with the Whites looking to join the Reds in the top flight once more.

It could be the case, though, that one of United's leading lights ends up moving to Merseyside according to Jones.

He was asked who the Reds might be interested in during the next transfer window and, alongside forward Timo Werner, both Phillips and Norwich City star Todd Cantwell were mentioned.

He revealed:

"Outside of Werner, they want a midfielder, but it would be more of a squad player like Cantwell from Norwich or Kalvin Phillips of Leeds. I think that gives you an idea of how Liverpool wants to strengthen and add depth rather than another elite signing."

The Verdict

Whether Phillips will want to leave Leeds for a squad role at Liverpool remains to be seen - particularly if the Whites are promoted back to the Premier League.

Naturally, the midfielder is going to generate interest this summer - regardless of division Leeds are in for 20/21 - and fans will just hope earning promotion will give them a better bargaining chip to keep him at the club.
