There's always the occasional transfer rumour that comes out of left-field and with January's transfer window just over a month away, we're expecting them to keep coming.

Indeed, whilst things have been quieter on the transfer front in recent weeks the rumblings are beginning to start once more but some times some stories can catch you completely off-guard.

And, with that in mind, a story from Moroccan outlet Liberation has really put the cat amongst the pigeons. Indeed, according to them Liverpool are interested in trying to bring in Romain Saiss from Wolves.

This, of course, is a bit of a shock with there being no real indication of Reds interest at any time up to this point. Indeed, we'd perhaps expect it more if Ruben Neves was the name mentioned but instead it is his midfield partner.

Saiss, of course, has proven himself a good player in the Championship with his combative and tenacious approach helping fire Wolves to the top of the league.

The club will surely not want to lose him, then, but might find it difficult if the Reds come calling. Whether or not this rumour actually starts gathering substance, though, remains to be seen.

The Verdict

I can't see this one happening myself. Saiss is a good player and the kind of midfielder you need to compete in the Championship.

He could make it in the Premier League, too, with Wolves or another side but I'm not sure that he's of the level required at Liverpool, or one of the other top six sides.
