Liverpool have made an offer to exciting young Nottingham Forest talent Matthew Bondswell, with a host of top clubs chasing the 16-year old.

The left-back is the latest star to come through the Reds academy and is in-demand with Liverpool, RB Leipzig and Manchester United all keen on the teenager according to Football Insider.

However, they add that it's the Merseyside outfit that have made the first move, offering the youngster a deal.

Given his age, Forest will be able to do little to prevent him from leaving, but they too have offered him a scholarship contract in a bid to keep him at the City Ground.

Yet, if Bondswell does move on, all the East Midlands club will be able to claim is a training compensation fee, which is likely to be a small six-figure sum.

Liverpool have made several moves for younger players in recent weeks, landing Bobby Duncan from Manchester City and Isaac Christie-Davies, who went to Anfield from Chelsea.

The Verdict

This is bad news for Forest but it's how things work at the minute unfortunately and the chance to move to such a club will appeal to the player.

Forest are clearly doing their best to convince the player to stay but it may not be enough.

Whilst supporters will obviously be frustrated that a top young player is potentially on the move, it's a good sign that another promising player is coming through the academy.
