Liverpool are reportedly set to move on Liam Millar on a permanent basis this summer, according to The Athletic.
Millar spent the second-half of this year’s campaign on loan with League One side Charlton Athletic, and caught the eye with some impressive performances.
He made 27 appearances for the Addicks in total, and scored three goals, whilst also being on hand to provide six assists in all competitions this term.
But Millar’s efforts weren’t quite enough, as Charlton fell short in their bid to finish in the top-six in the third-tier standings, much to the frustration of the club’s supporters.
It’s set to be an interesting summer ahead for Nigel Adkins’ side, and he’ll be hoping he can add to his squad ahead of the new league campaign, where promotion will certainly be the aim for the Addicks.
It’ll be interesting to see whether Millar emerges on Charlton’s transfer radar again as well, with the Addicks previously rivalling QPR, Millwall and Stoke City to the potential signing of the 21-year-old.
But this recent report from The Athletic claims that Liverpool are reportedly willing to move Millar on permanently this summer, which could see interest in his services heighten in the coming months.
Which Charlton Athletic player has been carded the most in each of the last 16 seasons?
It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for the Liverpool man.
Millar impressed me whilst with Charlton Athletic this season, and it was a shame that he couldn’t cap off his loan spell with promotion into the Championship whilst under the management of Nigel Adkins.
I’m not too surprised that Liverpool are looking to move him on this summer, as it’s highly unlikely that he’d be getting anywhere near their matchday squad moving forwards, as Jurgen Klopp has better options available to him at this moment in time.
I’d expect to see some of the Championship clubs reignite their interest in landing Millar’s signature this summer, as they prepare for the upcoming league campaign, which is set to get under way in August.
