Liverpool are confident they can beat Arsenal and Tottenham to the signing of Birmingham City prodigy Demarai Gray, according to Goal.
The publication claims that the Reds have a clause which allows them to match any offer placed by another side, thus suggesting they are in pole position to land the highly-rated youngster.
Gray, 18, is one of the most wanted prospects in the Sky Bet Football League and he has excelled under the stewardship of Blues boss Gary Rowett this season, and it is no surprise to see him to be wanted by an array of Premier League giants.
The youngster was a target for Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth in the last January transfer window, and the south coast club ended up having five bids rejected for the winger.
Gray is reportedly a target for Newcastle United and Aston Villa as well as Arsenal and Tottenham – so he is certainly in demand.
Rowett will undoubtedly want to keep hold of one of the club’s most prized assets, but if a significant transfer fee was tabled for him, a move may be too hard to refuse.
The player has been with Birmingham City since the young age of 11 and has progressed and flourished in the club’s academy to subsequently earn a regular spot in the first-team.
