Liverpool are interested in signing highly-rated Leeds United left-back Leif Davis, according to a report by The Sun.

The 19-year-old made five appearances for Leeds this season, before his campaign was cut short due to injury.

Davies joined Leeds from Morecambe in the summer as part of their development squad, but a number of injury problems at left-back meant that he was given an opportunity in the first-team much sooner than anticipated.

The report states that Liverpool are likely to release Alberto Moreno in the summer and are looking to provide back-up for first-choice left-back Andy Robertson.

Bournemouth are also thought to be interested in the teenager, who is valued at around £4million, but Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa is keen for him to remain at Elland Road to develop him further.

Leeds finished third in the Championship this season and are facing another season in the second tier, after their play-off semi-final defeat to Derby County last week.

The Verdict:

Davis is a talented young player and could have a big future at Elland Road.

I'm sure Bielsa will be keen for the player to remain at Leeds, but he may find it difficult to turn down a move to a club the size of Liverpool.

Perhaps Bournemouth would be a good move for him, as the club have a good reputation of signing talented English players from the lower divisions.
