Charlton Athletic are eyeing a move for Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn according to journalist Alan Nixon.

It is also claimed by the journalist that Timmy Abraham has also emerged as a potential target for the Addicks, as they look to win promotion back into the Championship at the first time of asking.

Woodburn spent last year's campaign out on loan with Oxford United, as their season ended in disappointment, after losing the League One play-off final against Wycombe Wanderers.

The Welshman has since returned to Liverpool, and is reportedly attracting interest from a number of clubs before the summer transfer window closes on Friday evening.

Charlton are currently sat 17th in the League One table after their opening four matches this term, in what has been a relatively poor start to the 2020/21 season.

Lee Bowyer seemingly is keen to add depth and quality to his squad before the transfer window slams shut though, with Woodburn being targeted as a potential option to lead the line for the Addicks.

Charlton are set to return to action this weekend, when they take on Wigan Athletic at The Valley, in what could potentially be a tricky test, as they look to pick up a much-needed three points.

The Verdict:

I like the sound of this potential deal.

Woodburn didn't have the best of spells whilst out on loan with League One side Oxford United last season, and he'll be eager to make a name for himself in senior football at the earliest of opportunities.

A move to Charlton could see him do just that, as the Addicks look to win promotion back into the Championship at the first time of asking under the management of Lee Bowyer.

Abraham could also be a smart signing by Charlton, as he'd add much-needed competition for places in the 2020/21 season.
