Having already secured the services of Joao Virginia and Michael Morrison for the upcoming campaign, Reading are now closing in on sealing a season-long loan deal for Ovie Ejaria.

According to Football Insider, the Royals are reportedly in advanced talks with the Liverpool midfielder who spent the second-half of the previous campaign at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading, who saw their soft transfer embargo lifted by the Football League earlier this month, will be hoping to complete the switch before they kick-off their new Championship season against Sheffield Wednesday on August 3rd.

Ejaria was one of host of Liverpool youngsters who were left behind by Jurgen Klopp for the club's tour of the United States and is extremely unlikely to feature in the German manager's first-team plans over the next 10 months.

If he does make the switch to Reading, it will be the fourth time that he has left Anfield on a temporary basis following recent moves to Sunderland and Rangers.

The Verdict

When you consider that Reading were only able to achieve a 20th place finish in the Championship in May, it is vital that Jose Manuel Gomes adds some real quality to his side this summer if his side are to push on next season.

Therefore, if Ejaria's previous escapades for the Royals are anything to go by, he could very will fit the Portuguese manager's bill.

A mainstay in Reading's side following his January move from Liverpool, the 21-year-old illustrated some real signs of promise during his 16 appearances with performances against Derby County and Rotherham United standing out in particular.

Although he was only able to produce three goal contributions for the Royals, there is no reason why Ejaria cannot improve his output during the upcoming campaign, especially if Gomes is able to bring in some further acquisitions between now and August 8th which will compliment his style of play.
