Blackburn are set to complete the signing of Harvey Elliott from Liverpool by 5pm today after the player agreed to the move.
The 17-year-old is extremely highly-rated at Anfield and has been on the fringes of the first-team since arriving from Fulham, although he is understandably struggling for regular minutes given the quality that Jurgen Klopp has.
Therefore, a move to get more game time would appear to suit all parties and a deal with Rovers has been agreed, with Lancashire Live reporter Jaquob Crooke now confirming that Elliott wants to join the Championship side.
That will be a major coup for Tony Mowbray as he looks to build a squad that is capable of challenging for the play-offs this season and Elliott’s arrival comes after the club sealed a deal for Barry Douglas earlier today.
Capable of playing down either flank, Elliott will provide more cutting edge for Blackburn in the final third and may be earmarked to play on the right-side, where he often cuts in to use his preferred left-foot.
This is a hugely exciting signing as Elliott is one of the brightest talents in the country for his age, so it will be interesting to see how he copes in the Championship.
You have to praise the teenager for wanting the move and it suggests he has a fearless attitude and is desperate to play games.
So, it looks as though this will get done and it continues what has been a very impressive day for Blackburn and Mowbray.
