Huddersfield Town loanee Kamil Grabara looks set for another loan spell in the Sky Bet Championship next season.

Liverpool took the option in the summer to send Grabara into the Championship, with the John Smith’s Stadium the goalkeeper’s destination.

It was the 21-year-old’s first domestic move away from Anfield, after a short-term loan with Aarhus last season.

Under Jan Siewert and now Danny Cowley, Grabara has amassed 28 Championship appearances. However, the goalkeeper now finds himself behind Jonas Lossl, who Cowley has faith in as No.1.

A serious head injury in the meeting with Hull City earlier in 2020 left Grabara hospitalised, but he’s now back in contention for Town and competing with Lossl as he looks to wrestle back the goalkeeping gloves.

And, an update on his future has emerged in the Liverpool Echo, with the report stating that another move into the Championship is a distinct possibility for the goalkeeper, given that he’s returning to a ‘crowded department’ at Anfield.

The goalkeeper’s immediate duty at Huddersfield is to help the club avoided relegation into League One. Cowley’s side sit 18th in the table, hovering just three points above the relegation zone.

The Verdict

Grabara was making good progress with Town, but his head injury and demotion behind Lossl has stopped him in his tracks.

From Liverpool’s perspective, it makes perfect sense to send the goalkeeper back into the Championship next season to aid his development.

He might not get a proper chance at Liverpool, but the club will want to give the 21-year-old the best possible chance of succeeding in England, and it has to be said that another loan in the Championship will help that.
