After a flying start to the season things have really gone wrong for Leeds United and Thomas Christiansen.

The Whites fell to a seventh defeat in nine when they were thrashed by Wolves at Molineux on Wednesday. The defeat keeps the Yorkshire club three points outside the play-offs, way down in 10th position. It seems an age since September when Leeds United topped the table.

The recent downturn in form has convinced many fans that far too many of the squad just simply aren’t up to it and January can’t come quick enough.

However, after summer recruitment that was questionable at best, even that doesn’t fill Leeds fans with much

confidence. Several signings came to Elland Road in pre-season but there’s only really Ezgjan Alioski and Samuel Saiz, of course, who have been success stories.

Nevertheless, the January window gives the club a chance to rectify those mistakes and we look at a bit of business that needs to be done.

In: Danny Ward

The Liverpool goalkeeper is behind Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius at Anfield and with no more Carabao Cup games to play, Ward’s season is effectively over.

Sunderland had been heavily linked with the keeper and may hold an advantage over the Whites because of the Chris Coleman connection, but Leeds are a much more attractive option on paper.

Ward has experienced a successful promotion push with Huddersfield last season and would be a major upgrade on either Andy Lonergan or Felix Wiedwald who have both cost Leeds points this season.

The 24-year old is seemingly available and would strengthen Leeds significantly.

Out: Mateusz Klich

The Polish midfielder joined the club from FC Twente in the summer and many thought he would make a big impact in the Championship.

However, that hasn't worked out at all, with the £1.8m rated man only making three appearances in the league so far this season. As well as that, he has found himself not even involved in the match day squad for the past three games either.

When you consider that central midfield isn't exactly an area where Leeds are flourishing, it demonstrates how far the 27-year old has fallen out of favour.

A move away in January would suit all parties and it would give Leeds more money to reinvest.
