Liverpool make approach to secure deal for Championship player

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are hoping to sign QPR defender Steven Caulker on loan until the end of the season, after making an approach to sign the player, according to Sky Sports.

Caulker has been on loan at Southampton this season, but has only made a handful of appearances as he has struggled to break into the team.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp will be pleased to add some defensive strength to his squad as they continue to be decimated by injury as the season progresses.

Caulker has one cap for England, in which he also scored on debut – however, the 24-year-old has been nowhere near the England squad recently, and will no doubt be hoping a move to Liverpool can help rejuvenate his international playing career.

QPR meanwhile sit 16th in the Sky Bet Championship and take on Blackburn at Ewood Park tonight.
