Liverpool looking into transfer deal for impressive Championship striker

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to take Nottingham Forest’s Ben Brereton to Anfield to bolster his attacking options.

Brereton has impressed since breaking onto the scene for Forest earlier this season, and is set to play a major part in helping Mark Warburton’s side in their fight for survival in the Sky Bet Championship.

The 17-year old has made ten appearances for the Midlands club this season, scoring three goals, including the winner in Forest’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in February.

Warburton recently took over from Gary Brazil at the City Ground, keeping faith with Brereton, and opting to start him ahead of January signing Ross McCormack in Saturday’s draw with Derby County.

Liverpool have highlighted Brereton as a potential target, as Klopp aims to strengthen his attacking options, after his strikers have misfired during the 2016/17 season.

Winger Sadio Mane is the Reds’ top goalscorer in the Premier League this season, with just 12 goals to his name.

Forest fans… Do you believe Brereton will leave the City Ground in the summer? Let us know in the comments!
