Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Birmingham City midfielder Jude Bellingham, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 16-year-old as emerged as one of, if not the brighest prospect in the EFL this season, establishing himself as a key player for Birmingham City under Pep Clotet.

The young midfielder has made an impressive total of 33 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals and producing a string of magnificent performances in central midfield or even out wide.

But the homegrown star is likely to attract interest from plenty of clubs in the summer, with the player still yet to put pen to paper on a professional deal at St. Andrew's.

Manchester United were linked with a move for Bellingham in January, and reports from Sky Sports claimed that they failed in a £30m offer to lure him to Old Trafford.

Now, the Daily Star claim that both Liverpool and Spurs have joined the race to sign Bellingham, with Barcelona and Real Madrid also reportedly sending scouts out to watch him.

Liverpool have used plenty of young players in their Carabao Cup campaign this season, with the likes of Curtis Jones and Rhian Brewster both impressing.

Whether Bellingham would be sent out on loan, like Brewster, upon his arrival at Anfield remains to be seen.

The Verdict

Bellingham is a huge talent who will go a long way in his career - it's hard to believe that he's only 16 years of age and is still impressing whilst playing week in, week out in the Championship.

I don't think Liverpool or Spurs would be good moves for Bellingham, though, as he needs to be playing regularly after an excellent start to his career.

Staying at Birmingham may even be the best option for him at this stage of his career, despite moves to Anfield and Old Trafford generally seen as dream options for a player of his age.
