The summer transfer window saw Blackburn Rovers continue their recent theme of loan agreements with Liverpool.

Following Harvey Elliott in 2020, and Leighton Clarkson in 2021, it was Tyler Morton who this time made the move to Ewood Park on a season-long loan deal.

With the 19-year-old midfielder having already made nine first-team appearances for Liverpool in his career, there will have been high hopes for him to make an impact in the Championship in 2022/23.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at some of the big questions surrounding Morton's time with Blackburn to date, right here.

How's it gone so far?

It has been something of a mixed bag for Morton since he made the move to Blackburn.

The midfielder has certainly enjoyed a decent amount of game time, making 11 appearances for Jon Dahl Tomasson's side already.

However, his performances have at times been inconsistent, and with no goals, and one assist, which came in the League Cup, Rovers are still waiting to see the full creative spark they might have hoped from him.

That being said, the way he has adapted to the Championship from a physical perspective is impressive, the teenager willing to put himself about in the centre of the park, something which stood out in the recent win over Watford, and with Blackburn winning five and losing five of ten league games so far, he is certainly not the only one at Ewood Park still looking for some consistency this season.

What issues does he face?

The big question now for Morton, is whether or not he can find that creative spark.

Of the midfielders to depart Blackburn this summer, it was Joe Rothwell - who scored three goals and provided ten assists in the league last season - who most looked like he needed replacing.

As a result, the pressure may well be building on Morton to boost his own goal contributions for Rovers, if he is to be viewed as a success at Ewood Park in terms of filling that role.

Meanwhile, the rise of Rovers youth graduate Adam Wharton at a pace that few may really have expected, has provided Morton with some further competition for game time.

What's next?

Blackburn resume Championship action after the September international break on Saturday afternoon, when they host Millwall at Ewood Park.

Having started each of Rovers' last five games prior to the break, the teenager will no doubt have his eyes firmly set on retaining his spot in Tomasson's starting lineup.

Indeed, despite their inconsistent start to the campaign, Blackburn are only outside the top six on goal difference, and after doing their business late in the transfer window, there is a hope they will improve as the side begins to adapt more to their new recruits, and tactics of a new head coach in Tomasson.

There is therefore, still plenty of time for Morton to impress this season, with 36 league games remaining, and show that he, like Elliott, can push for a chance at Anfield once his spell with Blackburn comes to an end.
