Rhian Brewster has taken confidence from his Swansea debut despite firing a blank against rivals Cardiff.

The youngster was thrown into the deep end as he made his first start for the Swans in one of the most hotly anticipated matches in the Championship.

He failed to find the back of the net but his running and work-rate didn't go unnoticed as the Swansea supporters sang his name throughout.

The game finished goalless and it means that the Swans have remained unbeaten against their rivals for the campaign.

Brewster has expressed that he can help the team more in the coming weeks, and he feels full of confidence having been thrown straight into the starting XI.

Speaking to Swansea's official website, Brewster said: "I didn’t help them as much as I would have liked but, hopefully, I can in the coming weeks.

"It’s great to make my debut for the Swans and my first senior league appearance; it gives me confidence that I was thrown straight into the starting line-up."

The Verdict

It's still a really interesting signing this one, as there hasn't been too much to show that he can go on and become one of the better players in the Premier League and get into Liverpool's squad.

This could well be a really big loan for the player and his career as if he has a poor time on loan at the Swans then the Reds may decide that they don't want to keep him at the club for much longer.

He has potential and has shown his pace and finishing in younger age groups, but it is completely different to first-team games and he has to now show that he's up for the task ahead.
