Liverpool are keeping an eye on Leeds United youth striker Henri Kumwenda following his impressive displays this season, according to Football Insider.

Kumwenda has been delivering consistently strong performances within the Leeds youth set-up of late, and it is now being reported that England's top clubs have been alerted about the attacker who is yet to sign professional terms with the Whites.

It is understood that Premier League leaders Liverpool are among a number of top-flight sides keeping tabs on the 18-year-old, but there have not yet been any reports regarding a firm offer for Kumwenda's services.

The frontman has received some bad luck with injuries which has somewhat hindered his progress in recent years, but he is now making a big impact within the Leeds' youth side after finally re-discovering full fitness of late.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has proven he is not afraid to hand first-team opportunities to the club's young talent - with the likes of Jack Clarke and Leif Davis having made their breakthrough under the Argentine - but Kumwenda is yet to feature within the first-team fold.

The Verdict

It would represent a major blow for Leeds if they were to lose one of their brightest young prospects without him having made a first-team appearance, while the Whites must immediately take action over the fact he has not yet signed professional terms.

This would enable a Premier League club such as Liverpool to sign Kumwenda without paying a transfer fee for his services, and Leeds must take the appropriate steps to ensure this does not happen given the striker's clear quality.

It would not be a surprise to see the attacker feature within Bielsa's plans sooner rather than later, as this would be a clear way of the club proving to Kumwenda that they value him highly.
