Liverpool are tracking defender Ben White after his impressive start to the season with Leeds United.

The 21-year-old, who joined Marcelo Bielsa's side on a season-long loan from Brighton in the summer, has already established himself as a crucial player at Elland Road.

White had big boots to fill after coming in to replace Pontus Jansson but he has settled with the Yorkshire club immediately.

And, his form appears to be catching the eye, with Football Insider claiming that the European champions have been sending scouts to watch the centre-back who are 'blown away' by the performances of White.

They go on to state that Jurgen Klopp is looking to strengthen that department with doubts over the long-term future of Dejan Lovren.

However, it won't be easy to prise him from the Seagulls, with the report revealing that they value White at around £20m following his bright start to life at Leeds and they see him becoming a key player for the club in the years to come.

This is obviously not good news for the Championship side, who were blocked in their bid to sign White permanently this summer.

The verdict

White has been superb for Leeds this season and he does look as though he will go on to have a career at a very high level, so this isn't too much of a surprise.

From the Whites perspective, it's clearly a blow as they will not be able to keep him beyond this season but they always knew that would be the case.

Now, it's down to the centre-back to keep performing well and the target will be to win promotion with Leeds and then sort out his future but getting linked to Liverpool isn't going to do his confidence any harm.
