Liverpool have made contact with Nottingham Forest to enquire about their young striker Ben Brereton, according to a report in The Mirror.
The report states that Jurgen Klopp wants to bring Spartak Moscow and Netherlands star Quincy Promes to Anfield but does want to neglect youth as well and Brereton is one of his young targets.
The Mirror understands that Jurgen Klopp made a personal phone call to enquire about Brereton’s availability, via chief scout Barry Hunter.
The 17-year-old is considered to be the latest hot prospect in the academy and he has hit 15 goals in 20 games for the under-23 side this year.
Manchester United are considered long-term admirers of the Forest starlet but Liverpool are thought to be keen on swooping in ahead of their Premier League rivals to land the highly rated teenager.
Nottingham Forest will undoubtedly be desperate to keep their young talent after a flurry of academy products, such as Matty Cash, Ben Osborn and Joe Worrall, recently broke into the first team.
