Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United are battling it out to sign Nottingham Forest defender Matthew Bondswell, according to report.
ESPN reported that the 16-year-old left back, who has been a regular in Forest’s Under-18 side this season, has drawn the attention from a number of sides in England’s top flight, after excelling this season for club and country.
The Tricky Trees are determined to keep hold of the youngster, but so far haven’t been able to agree a scholarship deal, with Bondswell reportedly rejecting a number of offers to date.
Liverpool will be hoping they can get the young defender to Anfield, as he grew up a fan of the club, giving them a slight advantage.
Matthew Bondswell’s Nottingham Forest team-mate, Alex Mighten, has also been linked with a move away from the City Ground, with Manchester United reportedly showing interest in the young winger.
Matthew Bondswell is a natural athlete that both Manchester United and Liverpool would be lucky to get on their books.
With the ability to get up and down the flanks from his full-back role, Nottingham Forest will certainly be hoping to hold on to the youngster.
