Liverpool are just one of a host of clubs to have set their sights on Peterborough United teen sensation Ricky-Jade Jones, after the youngster made a scoring start to his career at the Posh at the tender age of 17, as reported in the Daily Mail.

Liverpool will not have it their own way though with Manchester United, Tottenham, Southampton, Burnley, Leicester, Manchester City and Arsenal all expressing an interest in the youngster.

So would Jones make the grade at Anfield and is he good enough for the Premier League?

We discuss.........

George Brooks

"I've seen Ricky-Jade Jones play a few times this season and I've got to say he's impressed me with his pace, but I think it's way too early to tell whether he'd be good enough to play in the Premier League.

"He definitely isn't good enough for the top flight at this stage of his career, but perhaps he could be one to watch out for in the future.

"He's got obvious potential and is one of the most exciting young players at Peterborough at the moment. He's got blistering pace and has already scored a couple of goals, but at the end of the day he's still got a lot to learn.

"He's only made four appearances for Peterborough, so it's way too early to tell whether he'd be good enough to play for a club like Liverpool."

Toby Wilding

"I'm not entirely sure this is the best move for either party.

"When you look at some of the talent that Liverpool have sent out on loan recently, due to how difficult it is to get into their first-team, it is hard to see Jade-Jones getting many opportunities at Anfield any time soon.

"That is something that could even lead to a loan move in search of game time, which could then see him fall further down the pecking order behind those making an impact back at the club.

"As a result, you get the feeling there may well be other potential destinations going forward that could suit the teenager better than a move to Merseyside."

“Although Ricky-Jades Jones unquestionably has the potential to become a quality operator in the not too distant future, Liverpool should hold fire on a deal for the teenager.

“With just four Peterborough appearances under his belt this season, the forward is still adapting to life in the third-tier and thus may not be ready to make the step up to the Premier League.

“Furthermore, when you consider that Liverpool have the likes of Rhian Brewster and Harvey Elliot at their disposal, it could be argued that they may need to add another youngster to their roster.

“Therefore, the Reds may find it beneficial to monitor Jones’ progress this season from afar instead of splashing the cash on a player who has yet to deliver the goods on a consistent basis for Peterborough.”
