Liverpool have no interest in signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa this summer, leaving the door open for Tottenham to complete a deal for the talented midfielder.

Following Aston Villa’s failure to win promotion last season, player sales are expected this summer, with Grealish looking set to be amongst those heading for the exit door in the coming weeks.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have no interest in signing Grealish this summer, with the Reds looking at a higher calibre of player to bolster Jurgen Klopp’s squad ahead of 2018/19.

That same report indicates that Spurs remain at the front of the queue to sign the 22-year-old, with the North London outfit looking to complete a £15m deal for the midfielder’s service.

Grealish was influential at Villa Park last season, spearheading Villa’s push for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship.

The midfielder made 30 league appearances for Steve Bruce’s side, scoring three goals and registering six assists.

His form during the second-half of the season was particularly impressive, as Villa finished fourth in the Championship and reached the play-off final.

However, failure to beat Fulham at Wembley has left Villa in a difficult financial situation, as they face up to a third consecutive year of Championship football.

The Verdict

Liverpool’s lack of interest in Grealish leaves Spurs in a fantastic position this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino is a huge fan of Grealish, with this latest update leaving the door wide open for the North London club to make their move.

Agreeing a fee with Villa is the next hurdle Spurs face, which could be difficult given how differently the clubs value Grealish.
