Blackpool are making a late move for Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn on Deadline Day according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Woodburn has made 11 first-team appearances for Liverpool, but is highly unlikely to get regular minutes this season for Jurgen Klopp's side.

The forward spent last year's campaign on loan with Oxford United, and made 16 appearances for the League One side as they finished in the top-six.

But Woodburn picked up a foot injury towards the end of the season with Oxford, which saw his involvement limited for Karl Robinson's side, as they missed out on promotion into the Championship, after a defeat to Wycombe Wanderers in the League One play-off final.

Woodburn will be looking at finding himself regular game time this season, and a move to Blackpool could present him with the ideal opportunity to do just that.

The Tangerines are currently sat 22nd in the League One table, and are clearly keen to add strength in depth in attacking areas of their team before the summer transfer window reaches a conclusion at 5pm on Friday.

Blackpool are currently managed by former Liverpool Under-23s coach Neil Critchley, and he's evidently keen to raid his former club for Woodburn this season.

The Verdict:

I think this could be a decent signing by the Tangerines.

Woodburn isn't going to be anywhere near the Liverpool first-team this season, as Jurgen Klopp has much stronger options available to him in attack.

Therefore, it wouldn't come as a surprise to see the Reds looking at loaning him out in the near future, as they look to find him regular game time.

He'll have a point to prove, and if he can stay injury-free then this could prove to be a smart bit of business by Blackpool on Deadline Day.
