However, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon, it appears it is Liverpool who are moving to the head of the queue in terms of signing the youngster, with Jurgen Klopp ready to sanction a deal to bring the teenager to Anfield and further strengthen the youth ranks at the club.

Liverpool are looking to win their first Premier League title and kept the pressure on Man City this weekend with a 3-1 win at Southampton on Friday night.

Sunderland meanwhile are looking at winning promotion from League One, and came from behind at Rochdale yesterday with a last minute winner from George Honeyman handing them all three points to move them level with Barnsley in second with two games in hand.

The Verdict

It's not surprising to see the best young talent being eyed by Premier League giants, and Hewiston is clearly a highly rated talent.

However, little is known of him for us to form a massive opinion of him, and we'll just have to trust in Klopp's judgement really with this one.
