Premier League runners-up Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho.

The announcement comes less than 24 hours after the Reds missed out on the Premier League title on the final day of the season.

In recent weeks, there were extensive rumours to suggest that a deal had been struck between the two clubs for the 17-year-old, and this morning, that was confirmed by a Liverpool club statement.

"Liverpool FC can confirm Fabio Carvalho will join the club this summer." a Liverpool club statement read.

"The 19-year-old forward will officially complete a switch to the Reds on July 1."

Carvalho starred for Marco Silva's Fulham side in the Championship this season as they were crowned Champions and won automatic promotion to the Premier League.

In 36 Championship appearances, the tricky attacker scored 10 goals and registered eight assists.

Carvalho also scored against Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth round at the Etihad Stadium.

Having previously represented England at youth-level, the Portuguese born teenager recently made his Portuguese under-21 debut back in March.

In total, the 17-year-old made 44 senior appearances for Fulham, scoring 12 goals and assisting eight times.

The Verdict

The worst kept secret in football is finally confirmed!

This is one that has been rumbling on ever since January and it is good to see it finally confirmed by Liverpool.

What an exciting player they are getting, too.

At 17-years-old Carvalho absolutely shone in the second-tier this campaign, and under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, the Portuguese starlet is only going to improve.

Indeed, it is exciting times ahead for both Liverpool and Carvalho and it will certainly be interesting to watch his journey and progression at Anfield.
