Liverpool and Newcastle United have opened talks with Charlton wonderkid Joe Gomez, according to FLW sources.
The 17-year-old defenderis a highly-rated asset for the Addicks and has picked up plaudits for a string of impressive performances which has seen him promoted to the first-team setup.
Liverpool and Newcastle are eager to sign the starlet before the end of the transfer window at 11pm tonight, however it is uncertain if the deal will go through with Charlton desperate to keep hold of the defender.
Charlton are keen to tie Joe Gomez to a new long-term contract with the club to fend off Liverpool and Newcastle both chasing the South Londoner.
The Catford-raised defender was an impressive performer in the England Under-17 European Championships held in Malta, he helped the team lift the trophy.
