Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City are looking to sign Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson, according to Goal.
Everton have have also joined in the race for the highly-rated centre-back.
The Middlesbrough academy product was fantastic last season as Boro worked there way to the play off final, only to lose out to Norwich City for a place in the Premier League.
Gibson was very impressive throughout the year and made up the best defence in the Championship in the partnership with Daniel Ayala, as they played a part in managing to keep 19 clean sheets throughout the season.
Liverpool want the 22-year-old to replace outgoing Sebastian Coates, who is on his way to Sunderland, but could be stifled by the £10 million price tag slapped on by Aitor Karanka.
Manchester City are now looking to sign English talent this summer to expand the domestic talent within their ranks, whilst Everton could be the preferred destination, with a more likely chance of first-team football.
