Leeds United are already being linked with moves for players in the January transfer window, with the Whites looking to add some quality and depth to ensure their promotion charge keeps momentum.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa will no doubt be keen to see his board back him with new players if needed, and today Alan Nixon is reporting that the club are interested in signing Everton defender Mason Holgate.

The former Barnsley defender is out of the XI at Goodison Park at the moment and a move to Leeds in January could well be on the cards if Holgate decides a move away is best for his career at the moment.

Leeds are looking like genuine promotion contenders, and adding Holgate would no doubt be a move which would draw plenty of attention to the club.

Is Holgate the right man for Leeds though? Does he have the sort of quality and class needed to see through a promotion push? We've asked our writers here at FLW to give their thoughts on if Mason Holgate is going to be ideal sort of the signing for the club...

He’d be perfect for Leeds.
He’s a very versatile player and would add much needed depth to a fragile Leeds side.
Bielsa needs to get it done.

I don’t see why. Leeds need experience, they’ve got enough talented youngsters in their own squad. They need players in the mid to late twenties with experience of the promotion fight. There’s little point in replacing their own exciting youth, they should develop them. Lee Connor Be a good signing this to be honest, if not spectacular. The Championship is a tough league and squad depth is going to be vital for Leeds if they are to maintain their push. Holgate brings class, experience, and a point to prove with him, and he could be a superb addition if Leeds can capture the young defender. Watch EFL on Quest every Saturday at 9pm.
