Lincoln City will be looking to go again in the 2021/22 campaign after missing out on promotion to the Sky Bet Championship in cruel circumstances.
Michael Appleton led his plucky side to the League One play-off final after doing a brilliant job at Sincil Bank, only for the Imps to fall at the last hurdle as the lost out 2-1 to Blackpool at Wembley Stadium.
Now they will be looking to rebuild their current squad and have another crack at promotion as they look to re-find their momentum once more after last season’s disappointment.
The club has already been dealt a blow however, with star man Jorge Grant having been snapped up by Peterborough United earlier this week.
Quiz: What was the score the last time Lincoln City played each of these 25 teams?
Here, we round up all of the latest transfer rumours that have been swirling around the club in recent days.
Imps close to double signing
As per the club’s director of football Jez George, Lincoln are close to securing the signing of two top class loan deals this summer.
The Imps have regularly used the loan market to their advantage over the past few seasons and have benefitted from bringing in the likes of Tyler Walker and Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.
It now appears that they will once again be going down this route as they look to strengthen for next season.
However, Appleton has spoken in the past about the club’s need to not be so reliant on loanees as they look to possess their own players who can perform to a high standard.
Portsmouth dealt blow
Outgoing Lincoln midfielder Harry Anderson is unlikely to join Portsmouth this summer, as per a recent update from football journalist Andrew Moon on Twitter.
Anderson was one of several players who was informed that he would be getting released come the end of the campaign, thus bringing an end to his five year spell with the Imps.
The winger racked up five goals and five assists last term.
He was originally signed by the club under their former manager Danny Cowley, who is now in charge at Pompey.
12-goal attacker moves elsewhere
Lincoln recently missed out on the signing of Jordan Graham, with the winger confirming his move to Championship side Birmingham City.
The Imps are said to have put a contract offer to the 26-year-old after it was revealed that he would be leaving his former club Gillingham, with Hull City also said to have been interested.
However the attacker opted to step up a division with the Blues and will now be looking to make a big impact in the second tier.
Graham was in top form for the Gills in the campaign just gone, notching up 12 goals and six assists in 39 League One games.
