It's fair to say that nobody would have expected Lincoln City to perform as well as they did in 2016/17.

Not only were the Imps crowned champions of the National League, but Danny Cowley's men also miraculously defeated the likes of Ipswich Town, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Premier League outfit Burnley in the F.A. Cup, before being thumped 5-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates.

The Cowley brothers, Danny and Nicky, are proving to be perhaps the most promising management duo in English football, and the Imps definitely have the momentum to go for yet another promotion next season in League Two.

One thing that Cowley needs to address however, is the lack of firepower upfront, as another striker is beneficial if City are to work wonders again in 2017/18.

Winger Nathan Arnold will be looking to replicate his goalscoring form from last season, finishing the campaign as the club's top scorer with 13 goals, with Matt Rhead the second top-goalscorer with 8 goals in all competitions, therefore another striker definitely wouldn't go amiss.

One player that Danny Cowley must look to approach is free-agent Matt Green, who is valued at a price of £170k on Transfermarkt.com.

The 30-year old was released by the Steve Evans' Mansfield Town at the end of last season, as Evans looks to overhaul his squad in the summer also in a hope to form a promotion push next season.

This came as a shock to many Stags fans, what with the forward ending up as the club’s top goalscorer with 13 goals in all competitions last term.

When you consider Green’s goalscoring record for the Stags, 86 goals in a four-year stint with the club, this shows that he still has plenty to offer in League Two and even above, which has galvanised the interest from League One and even Championship clubs.

However, after an outstanding campaign last term, Lincoln are bound to have a very competitive budget after their glorious F.A. Cup campaign, and can definitely afford Green's wages; this signing is a definite must for Danny Cowley and his men.

So...what do you think Lincoln fans? Should you sign Matt Green, or is it an unrealistic move? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
