The start of the new season is an exciting time for any club, but this year it’s going to be even sweeter.
Following the government’s announcement about lifting COVID-19 restrictions, the EFL confirmed that supporters will be able to attend matches without limitation from July 19.
For Sunderland supporters this is going to be great news.

The Black Cats are gearing up for a huge season in their history as Lee Johnson prepares for his first full season in charge of the club.
With Kyril-Louis Dreyfus now running the club it means that supporters are really optimistic going into the new campaign and will be hoping to back their team with big numbers as their League One campaign gets underway in August.
As you’d imagine, the government’s latest announcement has been met with sheer delight from the majority of Sunderland supporters.
The club’s official Twitter account shared a post which simply said ‘We can’t wait to welcome you back’, and here’s what a selection of supporters had to say in response.
I honestly can’t wait to be back to a full crowd in August, the walk over the bridge, possibly a pink slince from the Café, singing me heart out for the lads for 90 minutes, only for Max Power to pop up in added time to ruin the whole day. Gerrrin! 🔴⚪

Imagine the noise at 3.06pm on the 7th August when the first misplaced pass from Tom Flanagan and the mass groans and insults from sections of the crowd…..it’ll be like we’ve never been away! #safc
