‘Like a Sunday league kit’ – Newcastle fans react to potential new home strip

Published

Newcastle United will be returning to the Premier League next season after securing the Championship title at the first time of asking.

Rafa Benitez’s men were under pressure to perform given the amount of money they spent in the summer and the overall size of the football club, and they did exactly what was needed by winning 29 of their 46 league games.

The Magpies pipped Chris Hughton’s Brighton to top spot on the final day, with Newcastle’s 3-0 win over Barnsley coupled with the Seagulls conceding a late leveller at Aston Villa enough to see the North East giants finish a point ahead at the summit.

The image sees striker Dwight Gayle, scorer of 23 goals in the Championship this term, model the home shirt, yet it’s fair to say that many Newcastle supporters are under-whelmed by the kit the side could be wearing in the Premier League next season…

Although there was one fan who was complementary of the new strip, and another who can’t quite understand the opposition to it…
