Nerves will have been shattered in Bolton this morning as their club prepared to go be high-court to face a potential winding-up order.
The worst case scenario could have seen the club enter liquidation and see them drop out of the Football League entirely, meaning their results would be wiped.
But finally some good news arrived when they were granted an extension for Ken Anderson, or a new owner, to pay the clubâs outstanding debts.
Reports afterwards suggested that they were close to a sale with the new owner prepared to wipe out the debts left over by Anderson and co.
So, how big a boost is this to the club and their fans?
We discuss...
George Harbey
âI think itâs only delaying the inevitable, to be honest.
âThey are bound to go down, and they arenât going to get any better off the pitch until a takeover happens.
âOf course, itâs a boost for now, but something needs to change for good.â
Jacob Potter
âThis is a promising update.
âI think that Bolton might be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel with their off-the-field problems.
âThe sooner this is all resolved, the better, as they can concentrate on keeping their faint hopes of staying up alive.â
Toby Wilding
âThe news that Bolton have been given two weeks to find a buyer will be welcome news to any fans of the club, as will the rumours doing the rounds as to who that buyer will be.
âThat extension means that any punishment for the club could take effect next season rather tha next due to how late in the season we now are, but Bolton fans may be happy just to have a club by then.â
