Sunderland secured a 3-2 victory over Blackpool from the division above in tonight's Carabao Cup second-round clash.

Shayne Lavery opened the scoring for the Championship clubs after just nine minutes, but Aiden O'Brien netted an equaliser for The Black Cats just three minutes later.

The former Millwall front man added his second of the night with 57 minutes on the clock, to give the visitors the lead, before Josh Bowler's 87th minute strike levelled the game, and seemingly forced the tie into penalties.

However, O'Brien completed his hat-trick in injury time, progressing The Wearsiders into the third round of the competition.

The Irish international, who is just as competent operating on the wing as he is up top, took his total to four goals this season with last night's hat-trick.

O'Brien netted during Sunderland's 2-1 victory over Port Vale in the first round of the Cup, but he is yet to get off the mark in the league.

The 27-year-old featured 40 times in all competitions last time out, scoring six goals in the process - a total he will be hoping to surpass this season.

O'Brien joined The Black Cats from Millwall in the summer of last year, after making over 200 appearances at The Den.

Here, we take a look at how some Sunderland fans have reacted to O'Brien's performance during last night's victory on the north-west coast...
