Derby County remain rooted to the bottom of the Championship table, as they were beaten 1-0 by promotion-chasing Bristol City on Saturday.
It was the Rams’ first match without Phillip Cocu, who was relieved of his duties during the international break after a poor run of results in the Championship.
Wayne Rooney has been joined in the dugout by Liam Rosenior, Shay Given and Justin Walker in temporary charge, whilst the club look to appoint a permanent manager in the near future.
But they were unable to turn around Derby’s poor form, as Famara Diedhiou scored the winner for the Robins to condemn Derby to their eighth league defeat of the 2020/21 season.
One player that didn’t feature in the defeat was Kamil Jozwiak, with the winger surprisingly not being involved for the Rams, despite catching the eye with some impressive performances for Poland not so long ago.
Speaking in a post-match press conference (quotes sourced from Derbyshire Live) after the defeat to the Robins at Ashton Gate, coach Liam Rosenior revealed the reason why Jozwiak wasn’t involved in the matchday squad.
“Disappointingly for us, yesterday Kamil picked up an ankle sprain,
“You saw the outstanding goal he scored against Holland in the week, and we couldn’t wait to get him back but unfortunately for us he wasn’t fit.”
But Rosenior was confident that the midfielder will return from injury sooner rather than later, and is keen to see him make a positive impact when he does come back into the fold.
“He could have made a huge impact on the game given the amount of possession we had.
“Hopefully he will be back fit to train on Monday and hopefully be fit for the game on Wednesday. We need everyone at the minute.”
Derby are set to return to action in midweek, when they take on Middlesbrough, in what is certain to be a tricky test up against an in-form Boro team at the Riverside.

They’ll be eager to have him back involved at the earliest of opportunities.
I’ve been really impressed with Jozwiak since he signed for Derby, and I definitely think he’s a player that can add much-needed creativity to their side going forward this term.
They needed a player of his quality against Bristol City in their last match, and it would have been frustrating to see him pick up an injury after an impressive display for Poland on the international stage last week.
If he can return to the Derby team this week though, then it certainly increases their chances of coming away with a positive result against Middlesbrough on Wednesday.
